Over the last few months, with some initial hesitation and feeling a little daunted…I’ve finally after many years started painting again. I loved all kinds of craft while growing up. I made clothes, jewellery, handbags, painted some rather big and impressive paintings, did woodwork, clay sculpture and more. Then adult life took over and between working and just adult living I felt like I didn’t have time…and that making art just because I felt like it wasn’t the most productive use of my time. However looking around over the last little while…I have discovered there is a whole movement of people who are craving this art and craft, and generally a slower pace to enjoy simple things, just as much as me. And I’m more than happy to join in. I also picked up a copy of The Artist’s Way a couple of months back. I haven’t properly started doing the course as I’ve had a lot of other big life changes going on. However even a brief look at the book has me feeling much more able to connect with my creative self…and let go of the outcomes. Like it says in the book… good, bad, not my problem.

This is a little painting I did inspired by the nature around my parents family home in Brisbane. The beautiful tall Gumtrees reach high into blue skies, with flocks of cockatoos flying past every morning.

I gave this on to my brother for his birthday and I hope he is enjoying it 🙂
